If you drive someone else’s car what is the first thing you do?
That’s right, you adjust the seat and move the mirrors. You might even adjust the steering wheel for height and reach.
When you bought your motorcycle did you adjust it to suit you?
The brake and clutch levers should be adjusted so they fall under your fingers without bending your wrists. If they have reach adjustment they should be adjusted so you don’t have to reach, or scrunch up your hand, to use them. If reach is not right, and you can’t adjust the lever, consider buying adjustable levers.
I’ve got after market adjustable levers so my wife and I can quickly set reach depending on who’s riding.
Next look at the gear lever and brake pedal. Set them so they are at the same height as the sole of your boots. That way you can reach them easily.
If you adjust brake pedal height you might have to adjust your brakes so they operate in the correct part of the pedal’s movement.
Your owner’s manual should explain how you can make the adjustments, or you can contact one of the mentors for help.
